See Through Heart ~ Book Review

STHeartSee Through Heart

by Amie Knight

Ainsley came into my life in a flurry of vibrant colors, lighting my world up when all seemed lost.
It wasn’t our quiet nights by the creek or stolen kisses surrounded by a sea of cotton that saved me.
It was her.

She was my comfort when life threw one ugly tragedy after another at me.
Until she dealt me the greatest blow.
Now, abandonment, betrayal, and death darken every corner of my life. Anger and hurt burn bright where love and trust once lived.

But, now, she’s back. Sure, she’s changed, but I see through it—straight to her heart.

My Review: 4 Stars

This is a great new adult second chance romance.  The storyline flowed well.  The charters are likable even in their conflicting ways.

What did I feel while reading this?  Heartache and sadness with a dash of cheer, but it was all worth it to get to the happily ever after.

Disgrace ~ Blog Tour

Disgrace, an all-new romantic and emotional standalone from Brittainy C. Cherry is available NOW!

Each day I prayed for my husband to love me again.

After fifteen years together, he walked away from me, and into the arms of another.

I didn’t know how to cope. I didn’t know my worth. I didn’t know how to exist without him by my side.

All I wanted was for him to come back to me.

Then, Jackson Emery appeared.

He was supposed to be a distraction for my mind. A summer fling. A confidence boost to my bruised heart.

We were perfect for one another, because we both knew we wouldn’t last. Jackson didn’t believe in commitment, and I no longer believed in love. He was too closed-off for me, and I was too damaged for him.

Everything was fine, until one night my heart skipped a beat.

I didn’t expect him to make me laugh. To make me think. To make my sadness somewhat disappear.

When our time was up, my heart didn’t know how to walk away.

Each day I prayed for my husband to love me again, yet slowly my prayers began to shift toward the man who wasn’t right for me.

I prayed for one more smile, one more kiss, one more laugh, one more touch…

I prayed for him to be mine.

Even though I knew his heart wasn’t destined to love.

“I’ve read about boys like you in books, ya know,” she whispered, her fingers slowly spinning spirals on my chest.

“Oh, yeah? What did those books teach you about boys like me?”

“Well…” She bit her bottom lip, and with a small inhalation, she whispered, “They taught me to stay away.”

“Then why are you so close?”

She tilted her head up, looking me straight in the eyes. “Because in those stories, the heroine never ever listens.”

“And then there’s trouble?” I asked.

“Yes, and then there’s trouble.”

From the way she said those words, I knew trouble was exactly what she was in search of. We were the classic cliché. She was the good girl next door, I the monster from around the block. We were perfect opposites for the perfect storm, and she was asking me to be her next flaw, her greatest mistake.

And, well, who was I not to live up to her request?

“I could destroy you,” I warned.

“Or save me.”

“Is it worth the risk?”

“Isn’t it always worth the risk?”

The more she touched me, the more I wanted to touch her back. I wrapped my hands around her wrists flipping us around so she was now against the wall with her hands above her head. “I have rules.” I leaned in closer, lightly brushing my lips against her neck. God, she smelled good, like peaches and my next sin. “You can’t break these rules, either.” My tongue rolled from my mouth and circled against her neck before I gently sucked her skin.

She shivered at my touch. “What are they?”

“Rule one,” I whispered, my mouth moving across her collarbone. “You never stay the night.”

“Rule number two,” I said, dropping her left arm to the side. Taking my hand to the bottom of her blouse, I slowly raised it up and massaged her skin. “You never develop feelings.”

“That’s easy enough,” she replied, her breaths uneven as I teased at the top button on her jeans. “I don’t believe in feelings anymore.”

I didn’t know why, but that made me sad for her. I, too, didn’t believe in falling for people, but that was my norm. Grace seemed the type to believe in something bigger than love, so the fact that her belief was completely gone was a bit surprising.

Maybe we had more in common than I thought.

“Rule number three…we don’t talk about my life.”

“Like ever?”

“And lastly, rule number four…” My mouth brushed against hers, and I slid my tongue slowly across her bottom lip. “If your favorite pair of panties get ripped, don’t expect me to replace them.”

Another great read by Brittainy.

An older woman, younger man, two broken individuals brought together to lean on each other and mend the pieces of themselves that were long ago broken. I loved it and it wasn’t nearly enough. There is so much that I could say but it would give the story away. It’s a curl up in a quiet place, stay up all night kind of book. It will bring tears to your eyes and stay with you for a long time after reading. Oh Jackson… and his saving Grace. You should definitely read this book.

Into Hell #4, Book Review

When I find myself face to face with Lucifer, I realize that what he wants from me could destroy Hell and the world. There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for those I love, but I’m not sure I can do what is necessary to stop Lucifer’s plans… even if I’m the only one who can.

As the battle for Hell rages, the line between enemies and allies blurs. To protect River, I will do whatever it takes to destroy Lucifer and reclaim my throne. With Hell torn apart, I know two things for certain, many will perish, and nothing will ever be the same again.

Find out how it all ends in the epic conclusion to The Road to Hell Series.

*** Due to graphic language, violence and sexual content this book is recommended for readers 18+ years of age.***

My Review: 5 Stars

Knowing who he is now, I’m not ashamed to say that every woman should have a Kobal by their side, and every Kobal needs a River.  They are both such strong characters.  A true example of yin and yang.  No other words needed.  I loved the ending of this series and look forward to the beginning of the spin-off.

Big brother’s best friend…

Who doesn’t enjoy a story like this? It’s emotional and realistic; not a fairytale in the least. Lawson & Selena, a married couple struggling to find their way back to each other amidst the obstacles between them. I read this in one sitting and I do believe you will enjoy this quick and easy read too.

Constant ~ Book Review

41tkcCEYZsLConstant (The Confidence Game Duet B1)

by Rachel Higginson

Fifteen years ago I met Sayer Wesley. I fell in love with him. I promised I would never leave him. I swore nothing could break us apart.

Five years ago I broke my promise. I ran away. I took the one secret that could destroy us both and disappeared.

Five days ago I thought I saw him.

I knew it was impossible. Sayer was locked away, serving a deserved sentence in federal prison. He couldn’t find me.

He wouldn’t find me. I was too good at hiding. Too good at surviving.

Because if Sayer ever found me, there would be hell to pay for a plethora of sins. The worst of which, he didn’t even know about.

Five hours ago, I told myself I was crazy.

Five minutes ago, I saw him again.

Five seconds ago, I was too late.

My Review: 4 Stars

I enjoyed the suspense in this book.  Unlike my usual reads, I didn’t shed any tears; which was good for a change.  It’s intriguing and a well thought out, realistic read.  Character development was great and the story flowed well.  I’m glad I had a chance to read this book.  I loved Caro and Sayer together and look forward to reading the conclusion to their story in Consequence.

For fans of suspense and crime families, mixed with a little bit of romance.

My Review: 5 Stars

I’m always skeptical when reading this type of book; but I must say that I was not disappointed with this one.  If it weren’t for needing sleep, I would’ve read it in one sitting.

It’s daring, gripping, thrilling and packed full of action.  There’s a teenage romance nestle inside all of the chaos.  The author incorporated it into the story very well.  There’s a lot going on; but the story line is very easy to follow.

All of the loose ends were tied up; but that ending leaves me wondering what happened to them next?  For now I’ll assume it’s what the story implies.

For fans of post-apocalyptic/dystopian sci-fi, you should definitely add this to your list of must reads!

My Review: 3.5 Stars

This is a good debut novel for YA fans. It started out kind of slow for me; but progressed as the chapters went on. The interaction between the characters was good. I would’ve liked to see a little more world building. Its worth the read and a good entry into the series.

Silver Lining ~ Book Review

SIlver Lining

by Jill Sanders

Sarah has always been torn between two worlds—the carefree, easygoing world of her hippie mom, where life is all about helping others and building good karma, and the real world, with real responsibilities, like paying bills, and getting to work on time, values obviously gleaned from dad’s side of the family.
She has nothing but fond memories of her father. He was always there for her, and clearly loved her mother more than she thought possible, despite mom’s overtly eccentric behavior. Losing dad was tough, but Sarah’s been reduced to being the girl with the crazy mom, a reputation that’s not likely to increase her chances of landing her dream promotion at the resort across the bay. Especially with the new competition. Ben is an attractive, sophisticated, and savvy businessman, clearly there to destroy her chances of getting the job. Her luck couldn’t be worse.
With an obvious attraction and closeness forming between the two, Sarah discovers that Ben’s motives may not be as clear as she first thought. What’s he really doing there? Is she being played?
Benjamin Rothschild has come to the popular upscale resort strictly for business. There to evaluate Sarah for a new position, he can’t help being drawn in by her sensual charm and free-spirited nature. But for some reason, this passionate beauty has it out for him. What has he ever done to her?
With so much confusion and something obviously lost in the translation, he’ll have to do everything in his power to convince her that his intentions for her are true.

My Review: 4 Stars

I liked the story behind the story. The interaction between the characters was great. There was a little suspense. Things were laid out where the reader knew what was happening long before the characters.

Ben was my favorite character. I admired the way he went after the girl and still managed to keep things professional.

This book had a serious tone to it for me. It made me smile at times, but I didn’t laugh out loud or cry. This is a good book to cozy up with a nice cup of something warm.

***I reviewed this book on audible.  The narrator, Roy Samuelson, did a great job bringing out the characters.

Nox (The Royal Protector Academy #3) ~ Book Review

Nox (The Royal Protection Academy Book 3)

by Randi Cooley Wilson

Love has revived an ancient war
Jealousy has risen and torn lives apart
And one prophecy demands the ultimate sacrifice

What if rewriting your destiny means that you must sacrifice the one you love? Serena St. Michael has forsaken her future—for him. Tristan Gallagher has renounced the throne—for her. The Vergina Sun prophecy has been fulfilled, but at what cost? Their love has renewed an ancient war. With Serena gone, will Tristan save her in time? Or will the dark army of Diablo Fairies descend upon the Royal Protector Academy, destroying the London clan’s legacy and ending the existence of the gargoyle race forever?

Nox is the final novel in the Royal Protector Academy series. This dangerously exciting and darkly romantic conclusion will take your breath away. It can be read as a stand-alone trilogy or after the bestselling Revelation series. Intended for mature readers (18+) due to language, mild violence, and sexual situations.

The Royal Protector Academy novels are a serial trilogy meant to be read in order:
Vernal (Book #1)
Aequus (Book #2)
Nox (Book #3)

My Review: 5 Stars

Tristan & his raindrop are back at again; along with Zander, who makes everything more fun and exciting.  A twist here; a turn there.  Will the realms finally be joined or will everything Tristan worked so hard for crumble by the hands of his enemies?  You have to read to find out.

What a great ending to the series; and dare I say an opening to a spin-off.  Only time will tell.

It’s pain and suffering for something or someone you love.

And this is the ultimate sacrifice.
One stunning act of true love.

***Trigger Warning: For anyone who has ever watched a love one suffer.

I’ve had this sitting on my TBR shelf since it’s release and I finally decided to open it up and read it.  It’s now on my list of favorites.  If I could give it six or even seven stars, I would.

In the midst of all the sadness contained within this novel, there was also so much joy and happiness.  I read every word of this book, from the cover page to the links and I loved every word.  From the beginning I knew I would need a whole lot of tissues.  This book hit home for me because I too have watched events in my life happen in eerily similar ways; first with my father and again with my grandparents.  It’s not easy, but moments shared are so precious and I cherish every one down to the last.

I recommend this book to anyone who doesn’t mind a good cry, a few laughs and an epic love story. You won’t regret the time spent reading it.

Note to the Author, M. Leighton; if you should ever read this: I want to personally thank you for sharing your story with me.  It touched me in ways I will never forget.
