Behind The Scenes
Hello Book Fanatics,
Derek Borne stopped in to tell us all about what he does. I’m so excited to have him here. Let’s all settle in and take a look ‘Behind The Scenes’ with Derek. When you’re done here hop over to the blog’s facebook page.
Author Interview Questions:
1. What is your Author pen name?
I go by my own personal name, Derek Borne
2. What genre(s) do you write & why?
My novel is of the superhero and spy genres, and it’s something I’ve loved for years and wanted to give it my own try.
3. What inspired you to become an author?
I used to write when I was younger, and at one point I felt like trying to write a full novel, just because I wanted to see if I could. And here I am!
4. What advice would you give to aspiring authors?
Most would say to keep writing, don’t give up, but that’s become kind of cliché. My advice, be a good person, make connections, and don’t be afraid to ask questions to fellow authors who know the ins and outs.
5. What do you like the most and least about being an author?
I love it when you get to see what others think of your work. If I can touch one person with my words and characters, I’ve done my job.
What I don’t like, is wishing I had more time to write lately. Life has been getting so busy, and time is now what I call “The elusive beast”.
6. Have you ever had writer’s block? If so, what did you do to get past it?
When I was writing my 3rd novel, I stopped halfway through. I knew where I wanted the story to go, but to get to that point, I couldn’t figure it out. So I stepped away for about 6 to 8 months, and when I came back to it and reread, it finally clicked! So sometimes you just need to take a break, live your life, and come at it with fresh eyes.
7. Who are your favorite authors?
Michael Crichton has and will always be my favourite author! He really knew how to meld scifi with thriller, and he was ahead of the world when it comes to science and technology.
8. What’s next for you; any upcoming events, new releases and etc.?
I’m past the halfway mark of rewriting my sequel, so hopefully that will be ready before the end of the year!
9. Where can we find you and your work?
