Iris Sweetwater ~ Author Interview

Behind The Scenes

Iris Sweetwater

Author Bio

Iris Sweetwater grew up writing poems and thinking up crazy stories while she was bored at school. Everyone was certain she would become an author one day, especially when at 13, she saw her first poem being published in an anthology. Since then, life has given her many twists and turns, seeing her as a sales associate, an SEO content manager, a teacher, a curriculum specialist, a mother, and a ghostwriter. All of these things have led her to finally being in the time of her life where she knows she should be sharing her own stories and not just someone else’s. She hopes to make a career out of writing paranormal romance, young adult fantasy, and contemporary romance while still pursuing ways to help children engage in the learning process.

Hello Book Fanatics,

Today we have Iris Sweetwater visiting to share her wolves with us.  She also has a treat for you.  Today is release day for “The Heart of the Pack”, the newest book in her series Brothers of Fang.  Take a look Behind The Scenes at what she’s working on and what’s coming up next for her in the future.

Author Interview Questions

1. What is your Author pen name?

Iris Sweetwater

2. What genre(s) do you write & why?

PNR, YA Fantasy, contemporary romance. The first two are because those have always been my favorite type of books to read. I think they are magical and can really transport you somewhere else. Contemporary romance has become a talent since beginning to ghostwrite it in 2013 for a living.

3. What inspired you to become an author?

I have always wanted to, since I started writing at 4 years old. I have been ghostwriting and writing for others for so long, giving them credit and award-winning books, and I am finally in a place where I feel I have some time to do it and I NEED to do it for myself.

4. What advice would you give to aspiring authors?

Do not let any nay-sayers tell you what or how to write. Yes, take advice, but take it with a grain if salt. You know what you are good at and how you feel about what you write. If the passion goes away to fit yourself in a box, there is no point.

5. What do you like the most and least about being an author?

I love getting to tell these stories and create these new characters. I do not like the financial struggle and all the marketing hassle for little return that often comes from being an Indie author.

6. Have you ever had writer’s block?  If so, what did you do to get past it?

Truth, I don’t think I have ever had major writer’s block, but I do find inspiration in watching my favorite shows and movies as well as reading. When you don’t know how to progress a relationship, kill a character, or put some action into a book, it can be inspirational to see what has worked before.

7. Who are your favorite authors?

JK Rowling, Addison Moore, Alyson Noel, and Lauren Kate

8. What’s next for you; any upcoming events, new releases and etc.?

Well, I just released the 3rd book in my PNR series, Brothers of Fang. In fact, those who buy the Brothers of Fang books right now and show confirmation to me (on my Facebook) get the corresponding bonus chapter. These bonus chapters have secrets not published anywhere else. The fourth in the series will be coming out very early next year, and it will be the last in the main series, though I may revisit the world in the book again at some point. After that, fans can look forward to some dark romance anthologies and a fantasy series with angels and demons.

9. Where can we find you and your work?

Most of my work is on Amazon right now. You can find me here: However, you will soon see my work available with all major ebook retailers. Amazon also has paperback versions of all my books if you like to hold that in your hand.
